About the Faculty of
The professional graduated from the School of Engineering in Information Systems has a
solid theoretical and practical training, oriented to decision-making in an
analytical
and systematic way.
We encourage the development of competent, proactive and motivated professionals to
meet
objectives. We have specialized laboratories that allow us to support the
corresponding
study programs and projects.
To train creative, skilled and innovative professionals in software development, computer systems administration, networks and telecommunications, capable of successfully managing institutional projects in a globalized environment.
To be a Faculty with innovative processes in professional training in information systems and computer science; recognized nationally and internationally for its comprehensive academic excellence and research, which promotes a permanent relationship of technical cooperation between the public and private sectors and the community in general.
Promote academic development that is permanently updated. Promote the development of scientific research. Facilitate technological integration through multidisciplinary groups. Promote national and international coverage.
To develop knowledge in:
Basic engineering sciences (Mathematics, Physics and Statistics).
Statistical and system simulation processes (Modeling).
Computer programming projects and databases.
Active and participative leadership using emotional intelligence for decision-making.
Network and telecommunications infrastructure.

Dean’s
In the context of a globalized world that uses many emerging technologies, we must focus on the importance of basic engineering sciences and research.
After suffering for three years from a health pandemic, we now have new challenges in the information technology ecosystem.
We are committed, together with the faculty and administration, to support our students in this journey of academic life.
The Faculty is focused on providing new knowledge to undergraduate and graduate students and graduates.
We are training professionals capable of facing important challenges, where creative and innovative solutions are sought for the solution of problems related to Systems Engineering.

Work experience in:
The IT area for more than 30 years.
In networks and telecommunications for more than 15 years.
Logistics area for 5 years.
Teaching in the area of systems for more than 25 years.
Dean of the School of Systems Engineering from 2005 to date.
Served as Director of Continuing Education CEDUCA for 3 years and president of
CEDUCA for 1 year and as Manager of the College of Engineers of Guatemala for 2
years.
Served as Process Director of RENAP for 2 years.
Ing. Jorge
Arias
Graduated in Information Systems Engineering and Computer Science at UMG.
MA in Computer Science with emphasis in Electronic Banking and
Telecommunications also from UMG.
Currently coordinating the faculty master's program on an interim basis since
November 2017.
She worked as a teacher from 1997 to 2012, when she took over as Secretary of
the Faculty.
He has worked in different public and private entities, from insurance companies
to government ministries,
in advisory and headship positions, developing security policies, computer and
forensic audits, among others.
Mr. Hugo Adalberto Hernández Santizo
Coordinator of the Information Systems Engineering career, afternoon session.
Science and Systems Engineer graduated from the University of San Carlos de
Guatemala.
He has 18 years of experience as a professor at Universidad Mariano Galvez and
10 years at Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala.
He has been a consultant for different companies in the field of software
development, as well as for governmental entities in Guatemala.
Ing. Oscar Alejandro Paz Campos
Learning
Systems Engineering integrates computer science theory with practical application, emphasizing
programming, systems analysis, and hardware. Students participate in projects that simulate real-world
engineering challenges, fostering collaboration and innovation. The curriculum ranges from computer
security to artificial intelligence, preparing engineers for an ever-changing technological environment.
Management and critical analysis skills are cultivated for leadership in the IT industry.
The goal is to graduate engineers with a holistic and adaptive vision, ready to meet the challenges of the digital age.
